AFRICAN-AMERICAN STUDIES MINOR (AAST)

The minor in African-American studies is an interdisciplinary program of study in African-American culture and the African-American experience. The objectives of the program are to foster a wider understanding of the struggles and achievements of African Americans, both in the context of the broad patterns of American life and within the global context of the African diaspora, and to provide an introduction to the methods appropriate to interdisciplinary cultural studies.

The minor in African-American studies requires 21 hours, including the following:

A minimum of 6 hours at the 300 or 400 level must be earned on this campus.
