FACILITIES

The College of Education extensively utilizes the facilities and resources of the entire University, the community, and the schools. Administrative offices of the College are located in Carmichael Hall. In addition, this building provides space for classrooms and faculty offices, and the Office for Student Services and Certification. The following buildings and facilities are also used for College of Education programs: Graves Hall, Wilson Hall, Moore Hall, Foster Auditorium, Garland Hall, Moody Music Building, the Natatorium, the Student Recreation Center, and the University tennis courts.

The John Rankin McLure Education Library, adjacent to Graves Hall, is for the support of professional education programs. Included in the library's collection are books on all subjects in the field of education, including dissertations written by graduates of the College of Education. A Curriculum Materials Center, which includes K–12 textbooks, a small media collection, and school library collection, is located on the ground floor. The children's books are appropriate for ages pre-K through young adult, with a special area for the Newbery and Caldecott Awards books. A complete historical ERIC (Education Resources Information Clearinghouse) microfiche collection, 1966 through 2003 is housed on the basement level. ERIC documents from 1993 to the present are now available by digitally through the ERIC database. The HPER/kinesiology microfiche collection from the University of Oregon continues from 1972. Current and bound periodicals, many of which may be obtained electronically, are available in the library. They may be accessed through the Web page at http://www.lib.ua.edu.
