STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Mable Adams Society. This group is the University of Alabama student section of the Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and is open to all students majoring in human environmental sciences. It promotes interest in human environmental sciences and provides opportunities for professional growth through service to the College and community.

Ambassadors. The Ambassadors serve as representatives of the College. They host school events, provide tours, and represent the College in high-school recruiting activities.

Athletic Training Students' Association. Students enrolled in the Athletic Training Education Program are eligible for membership in this organization. The group performs service and support activities that promote the athletic training education program and the profession of athletic training.

Capstone Association for the Education of Young Children. The Capstone Association for the Education of Young Children is affiliated with the Alabama Association for Young Children as well as the national organization. Membership is open to any student interested in the education of young children.

Capstone Financial Planning Association. This organization is open to all CSM majors and minors. It is a branch of the Birmingham Chapter of the Financial Planning Association. The group meets monthly and provides networking and professional development opportunities to its members.

Consumer Science Student Association/Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals (CSSA/SOCAP). CSSA/SOCAP is open to all students interested in careers that serve consumer interests in business, government, and the nonprofit sector. Students are eligible for membership in both state and national SOCAP chapters, giving them opportunities to attend national conferences and regional seminars as student delegates or interns.

Council of Presidents. Composed of the elected officers of the College and the presidents of all clubs and honoraries, the council helps to coordinate activities that involve student organizations in the College.

Eta Sigma Delta. An international honors society for students majoring in restaurant, hotel, and meetings management (RHM). RHM majors who have completed 50 percent of the credit hours required for graduation and have maintained a grade point average of 3.00 or higher are invited into membership.

Eta Sigma Gamma. A national professional health education honorary for students with a major or minor in general health studies.

Fashion, Incorporated. Open to all students who are interested in developing fashion careers through activities outside the classroom. The organization encourages participation in professional development and service activities and provides opportunities to develop leadership skills.

Hotel and Restaurant and Convention Association (HARACA). Students majoring in restaurant, hotel, and meetings management are eligible for membership in HARACA, which encourages student involvement and interest in hospitality management.

Phi Upsilon Omicron. Psi Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron, a national honor society in home economics, was established at The University of Alabama in 1936. Students who have completed at least 32 semesters hours and maintained grade point averages of 3.00 or higher may apply for membership.

Student Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). Students majoring in interior design are eligible for membership in ASID, which promotes the interests and ideals of interior design.

Student Dietetic Association. The purpose of the Student Dietetic Association, an affiliate of the American Dietetic Association, is to promote meaningful student involvement and stimulate interest in the profession of dietetics. Membership is open to all interested students.
