STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Collegiate Music Educators National Conference. Affiliated with the national Music Educators Conference, the University of Alabama Chapter affords students an opportunity for professional orientation and development while still in school. Membership is open to all music education students.

Kappa Delta Epsilon. Kappa Delta Epsilon is a national honor society for education students. The Alpha Sigma Chapter was founded at The University of Alabama in 1962. Membership is available by invitation to students who plan to teach and who meet qualifications of the society.

Kappa Delta Pi. Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education. Xi Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was installed at The University of Alabama in 1922. Membership is by invitation and is based on scholarship and promise of educational leadership. Students of advanced sophomore or higher standing are considered for membership.

Phi Delta Kappa. Phi Delta Kappa is a national professional society. The University of Alabama chapter was organized in 1930 to foster ideals of research, service, and leadership in education and to promote professional fellowship. Membership is limited to graduate and advanced undergraduate men and women who meet the society's high standards of scholarship and character and who have chosen education as their profession.

Student Council for Exceptional Children. Affiliated with the International Council for Exceptional Children and the Alabama Federation of the Council for Exceptional Children, this organization provides professional exposure and personal experiences with exceptional children. Any interested student may join.

Student Alabama Education Association. Affiliated with the National Education Association and Alabama Education Association, the University of Alabama chapter of this group was organized in 1949 to afford members practical experience in addressing problems of the profession and the community. Membership is open to all students in the College of Education.
