KINESIOLOGY—ATHLETIC COACHING (HCA)

HCA 106 Teaching Beginning Golf. 1 hour.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in a basic game of golf.

HCA 107 Teaching Intermediate Golf. 1 hour.

The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate at an intermediate level in the game of golf.

HCA 261 Sports Techniques/Fitness. 2 hours.

This course designed to familiarize students with current techniques in strength training and physical conditioning. Emphasis is given to the organization and implementation of fitness programs.

HCA 262 Advanced Sports Techniques/Fitness. 2 hours.

This course designed to familiarize students with current techniques in strength training and physical conditioning.

HCA 295 Workshop in Athletic Coaching Education. 3 hours

This flexible and concentrated course allows for focus on selected aspects of coaching.

Students must have at least a 2.0 GPA to enroll in any of the following 300- and 400-level courses.

HCA 305 Coaching Softball. 3 hours

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of softball.

HCA 312 Coaching Gymnastics. 2 hours.

The course is designed to introduce the student to the complex skills of coaching gymnastics and to acquaint the student with various duties and responsibilities related to coaching.

HCA 350 Mental Aspects of Coaching. 3 hours.

This course is designed to introduce students to the psychology of coaching.

HCA 365 Training Champion Athletes. 1 hour.

The course is designed to introduce the student to methods used to develop and train high-level athletes.

HCA 368 Coaching Tennis. 2 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of tennis.

HCA 370 Coaching Soccer. 2 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of soccer.

HCA 380 Coaching Swimming. 2 hours.

This course is designed to qualify a student trained in Basic Aquatic Education to attain competency as a coach or instructor of competitive swimming and diving, and also in basic principles of swimming pool operation and management.

HCA 381 Coaching Football. 3 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach football.

HCA 382 Coaching Basketball. 3 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of basketball.

HCA 383 Coaching Baseball. 3 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of baseball.

HCA 384 Coaching Track and Field. 3 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach track and field events.

HCA 387 Coaching Volleyball. 3 hours.

This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge to coach the game of volleyball.

HCA 390 Sports Workshop. 1 to 6 hours.

This course is designed to provide practicing physical education teachers with updated skills and knowledge pertaining to coaching school sports.

HCA 420 Issues in Athletics Coaching. 3 hours.

This course is designed to examine current issues, controversies, trends, and problems in the field of coaching.

HCA 488 Clinical Experience in Coaching. 1 to 6 hours.

This internship is designed to provide students with the opportunity to get practical experience in coaching within a supervised environment.
