UA Remembers: A Day of Service

The University of Alabama commemorated the first anniversary of the April 27, 2011, tornadoes with a Day of Service on Saturday, April 21. Thanks to the more than 1,200 volunteers who helped remove debris from sites along the tornado's path in Rosedale, Forest Lake and Alberta City.

• 1,200 volunteers worked an average of 4 hours each

• The city hauled 420 cubic yards of debris that day. Around 13 trailer loads!

• 1,900 large bags of debris were filled
