WVUA 7

Production personnel in the WVUA 7 control roomThe University of Alabama's WVUA 7 television station serves West Alabama as the only local source for news, weather, and sports.

And as one of only two commercial stations in the country owned and operated by a public university, WVUA 7 provides UA students and faculty with a work and research laboratory in Phifer Hall, home of the College of Communication and Information Sciences.

WVUA 7, an independent station, can be seen throughout west and central Alabama on three over-the-air channels and numerous cable systems. Newscasts at noon, 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends deliver "live" local news to Tuscaloosa and the West Alabama community. UA students assist in producing WVUA 7's newscasts, as well as other programming.
